Together We Thrive: The Power of Intergenerational Relationships
Role: Project Lead | Key words: data analysis software; intergenerational connectedness; qualitative research
Overview:
This research explores how adults (ages 45–85) engage in generative activities—such as social engagement, mentorship, and advocacy—and how these experiences contribute to well-being in later life. Additionally, it showcases innovative analytical strategies that integrate qualitative, quantitative, and visual methods.
Approach:
Conducted life review interviews to examine the personal narratives behind generative behaviors.
Leveraged ATLAS.ti for thematic analysis, identifying key patterns in transcribed interviews.
Applied visual methods and metaphors to illustrate generativity through analytical networks (see linked paper below).
Combined qualitative (ATLAS.ti) and quantitative (SPSS) analysis for deeper insights.
Impact:
Published in academic journals, book chapters, and presented at national and international conferences.
Cited 100+ times in scholarly research.
Currently developing an interactive lecture series for in-person and online learning.
